Christian Dior was born off the coast of France, and with a love for art. Dior sold drawings of hats and dresses in 1935, beginning his fashion career. As World War II began, Dior served in the South of France, returning from service to Paris in 1941 where he worked for Lucien Lelong, a larger design house. In 1946, Dior started his own line creating the "New Look" a change to fashion showing rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, and full skirt. During this time Dior restored Paris as the fashion capital.
